About the Program

(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) The Forestry Technician certificate curriculum is designed to meet the demand for trained personnel in the fields of forestry and silviculture for multiple agencies and private timber companies.

Program Learning Outcome(s):

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:

  • Identify common tree and plant species in California and the western United States.

  • Utilize tools for forest mensuration.

  • Identify invasive weeds, pests and diseases common to trees and forests in California.

  • Perform work in a greenhouse for the propagation of trees for replanting after a harvest or fire.

  • Utilize GPS and GIS systems to create and read maps of work areas.
