EMS-110: Emergency Medical Responder | 4 | This course will instruct students to the level of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). The course covers the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional Emergency Medical Service (EMS) response and to assist higher level personnel at the scene and during transport. Department recommends BIOL-10 or BIOL-20/21 or ALH-104 before taking this course. The department also strongly recommends a solid algebraic/math background. Prerequisite(s): American Heart Association Professional Health Care Provider CPR or equivalent and must be 18 years of age as of first day of class This course will instruct students to the level of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). The primary focus of the EMR is to initiate immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical system. The course covers the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional Emergency Medical Service (EMS) response and to assist higher level personnel at the scene and during transport. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the exam required for certification as an EMR in the state of California. |
